Thank you for visiting Historipedia.
This site is made by a group of members who love Japan.
Drawing on what we have learned at school, on our travels and from books, we do our best to dig deep into the places that have caught our interest. Our Features in particular take quite a lot of time to write, so we hope you will take a look.
That said, the site may contain historical errors, or passages written in a biased way that cause offense. If you find one, please let us know and we will correct it. Thank you for your understanding.

Rather than information everyone already knows, we want this to be a site anyone can enjoy and read casually — things that are common knowledge to locals but obscure to outsiders, stories you'll learn something from even if you'd never heard of them before, and the occasional urban legend.
Our hope is that this sparks a little more interest in these places — that it leads to a visit, to buying some local specialties, and to these regions benefiting in return.
